The wedding planning business can be a lucrative one. Many brides decide to hire help when planning their special day, in the form of a wedding planner and/or consultant. If you enjoy weddings, are organized, can stay calm in stressful situations, can communicate well with others and have a creative eye, then you might make a great wedding planner. As a wedding planner it is your job to handle every aspect of the wedding and be the middleman between your client and other professionals such as the caterer, DJ, florist and photographer, for example. Your salary may fluctuate depending on the size and cost of the weddings you are planning. For example, your commission might be $1000 for one wedding and $10,000 for the next. It all depends on your pricing scale and how much the client's wedding is. Many planners charge a percentage of wedding costs. Ten to twenty percent is a reasonable commission for the average planner.
A wedding planner salary can certainly be worth the time and effort you spend building and running your business. Being self employed is rewarding and often profitable.
